Meet Dale, cinematographer based in Toronto.

Dale Sood is a visual artist, filmmaker and cinematographer with nearly 20 years of experience based in Toronto. Born and raised in the Canadian prairies, his work reflects a deeply philosophical vision influenced by nostalgic 70s cinema and 90s fashion photography. A master of light, Dale honed his skills as a gaffer for some of Canada’s top cinematographers before becoming one himself. His cinematographer is described as a Feelteller, prioritizing an image’s emotional power over traditional narrative structure. Dale’s films and photography are refined to industry standards, drawing inspiration from cinematic greats like Tarkovsky, Godard, Kubrick, and Bergman.

Versatile and multilingual, he works fluently in English and French and often integrates his diverse experiences as a rock climbing guide and professional musician to enrich his artistic projects. His work has been screened at over 30 film festivals worldwide, sold for broadcast, and earned several awards. He has collaborated with internationally acclaimed actors and musicians, while his editorial work has appeared in Harper’s Bazaar, Tatler, Martha Stewart Weddings, and many other fashion publications.

He has lead speaking engagements for & has been supported by SONY Cinema Canada, FUJIFILM Canada, & ROSCO DMG Lumière.

Dale is an Associate Member of the Canadian Society of Cinematographers.
